Dubai discounts: about to get my first Rolex

I decided to go for a new rolex (go big or go home). I live in Dubai and have visited many AD stores in malls and hotels to get a feel for what I want. I have decided on a 31mm TT datejust.. I have seen on here that ADs here give anywhere from a 5-10% discount. How does that work? Would all Ads (including the malls) offer that? Would the watch i want qualify? Do i just ask for a discount at Rolex? Buying a watch has become way more complicated than I thought but im loving all of it..

Buying a Rolex is much like buying any other product from most all retails stores. No harm in asking for a discount, they either say yes or no, then if they have it in stock and you are happy with the price you buy it, nothing could be simpler.

Buying a watch is nothing special and it's like buying anything else of high value.
Just ask for a discount, they will not give it themselves.

Aim high and ask for let's say a 20% discount and see what they offer you.

Definitely ask for a discount... For watches with any precious metal in them Seddiqi tend to give a 12% discount without too much prompting. Given the size you are buying and the current circumstances, I imagine they have instore stock of something like that and could well give you more for sure. If you have ever watched the Chinese tourists in the Rolex boutique in Dubai Mall hammering away at calculators with the sales assistants there is definitely an opportunity to negotiate for items that are in stock.

TT are not that popular, that may help in getting a good discount

How about YG Day-Date, is it possible to get a discount around 15-20% off at the boutique in the US?

Thanks!

Worse thing they can tell you is No. Ask away and see if you can get the watch you desire at a better price.

Yes possible. I was offered a 9% discount off MSRP for a bluesy last month at the palm/atlantis AD.

Most Dubai AD’s jack up the price by 10-15% and offer the discount to make you happy. If you live in Dubai, Bahrain is the best place to buy the watch. You are welcome!

Hmmmmm what do you mean they jack up the price? I thought ADs can’t officially do that

There is only one official AD in Dubai and their prices are consistent across every branch i've visited. Although I have been offered 10% discount on certain models I've never experienced "jacked up prices".

Prices were increased a year or two ago with the general price increase plus we had VAT added. Perhaps that's what you mean?

Abu Dhabi is a different matter.

You’ll get a Datejust, not sure about much else.

Great choice and yes, you can as for a discount for sure.
Enjoy the experience, Dubai has one of the most beautiful Rolex boutiques in the world.

If you are looking to pickup a hard to get piece I wouldn't ask for a discount but if the piece is a hard piece to move especially in a time like this I would ask for a discount obv in a nice way. You can even ask them if they can cover the tax if you don't want to ask for 5-10% off the watch.

Generally speaking I don't ask for a discount unless I know the grey market price is majorly discounted -brands like Breitling which I enjoy etc. Worse thing they can say is no but atleast you asked. But with this being said I know my friend/shop doesn't make commission so Im not really a discount guy.

Asking for a discount is a free bet. You have no reason not to ask, even if you are comfortable with the price.

Not Rolexes -- The AD in City Center Mall (who iirc owns all the Rolex AD's in Bahrain) list all their watches above MSRP and then gives you a discount that if you are lucky will take you to MSRP.

They are better than Saudi though where the mark-up above MSRP is insane.

It's been a while since I've shopped a Rolex in Dubai, but I suspect they do the same thing (mark-up MSRP and then maybe will let you have a discount to get it back to MSRP).

I've never understood why Rolex lets the AD's in the Middle East get away with this, I guess they just have no choice.

Pieces like DD. But always ask and quote another quote. I did get other accommodations from this AD as I have a great track them.

Check msrp price in the US first and ask for 15% discount from that price.

Did you compare your price to the official Rolex MSRP?

Buy in the U.K. airport leaving, that will get you the best price. Even buying in U.K. AD at U.K. retail will be cheaper than buying in Dubai even with a discount or an airport price. VAT here in Dubai is only 5%.

Not in middle east! They finally stopped "premium" prices in Asia. It's going to be a while.

Modern art store - in the big mall next to Meridien hotel? They are douchebags! I prefer the other Rolex store at the basement of Moda mall - Koheji. Good people and great customer service.
