How much was the premium? Much more interesting than another picture as surely everyone here knows what a 'Pepsi' looks like.

When you paid the premium and got the watch and an invoice for less than you actually paid did it not concern you a little that that money disappeared into the AD's pocket (should you for example have a problem with the watch and demand a refund).

This reminded me of UK NHS dentists who I've experienced lying that some procedures are only available privately in order to get patients to pay higher charges (apologies to those in most of the developed world who have no idea what a National Health Service is or how it operates).

A call to the local Clinical Commissioners usually straightens out such errant dental practictioners.

I hope Rolex hear about your AD.

So the SA must have somehow understood that you’d be willing to entertain this type of corruption.

People saying that ‘that’s how it works in some countries’ is lame, corruption is often instigated by greedy businessmen who say that to justify their unethical behaviour.

Malaysia only has 3 ADs, Hour Glass, Valiram and Cortina...

Your post has now put all 3 on notice with Rolex.

What would be worse though, this or an AD that asks you to bundle with other watches or buy other stuff just to "get on the list"? Both are disappointing. It's all just greed but presented differently.

Some ADs do charge a premium here in Paris. Not to name them, but I've seen a well known AD here displaying a DJ 41 fluted jubilee Rhodium at 11,3kEUR (meaning +2kEUR) before lockdown.

If it’s official listed price then it’s legitimate.

The issue, for all of us, is that some shady characters who believe that paying under the table is acceptable, corrupt Sales Managers by offering cash under the table. Sure, it’s wrong of them to accept, but it’s also wrong to offer. Especially in Southeast Asia where salaries are like $1k per month, if you offer a few thousand $ it will be very tempting for the SAs as the ‘tip’ is worth a few months salary.

Then everyone else gets pushed down the list as a result and the AD could lose their license as a result.

I strongly disagree with offering under the table money to ADs, it just corrupts the system.

What greys do is speculating based on market dynamics and taking risks while doing that, what Rolex ADs do is representing a brand and building relationships.

I’ve bought several Rolex in Malaysia and Singapore and several SAs have told me they’re getting tired of characters who think they can jump the queue by offering under the table money. It’s not the ADs asking, it’s shady, greedy, impatient customers offering.

What I'm curious about is whether the invoice reflects the premium paid, or whether it has the MSRP and the premium was paid under the table.

All quiet. OP it must have been quite a premium.

At least if you never mention it again then it will be easier to forget, while you still have the watch.

Good of your AD to helpfully assist you in pretending it never happened :)

So glad I'm too big for these dainty 40mm pieces.
