I'm not sure I want the black one but I'll go try it anyways, this might be my ticket to the other models :)

Thanks again everyone for the valuable info and advice, very much appreciated !
You have absolutely no chance of obtaining these references as a cold customer in Paris, so it is good you are finally accepting that.

The AD doesn't care about your visitation(s) unless you buy something from them.

So there are clearly two viewpoints here:

The AD salesperson remembered your interest and reached out about the black DJ jubilee. That is good as (s)he could have very, very easily sold that watch with no effort what-so-ever, but they gave you a shot. If you don't pursue that, they will more than likely shut you out as they don't have the time or the inventory to mess about...

From your POV, you should buy what you want and not settle. So if you don't want the black dial, pass on it...with realization and acceptance that your "in" at the AD has more than likely passed you by.

Then buy the watch you want from the grey market and move on...

Date just should be readily available. I just got one and it was sitting at the display case.

The English joke you can't even get decent service in a Paris Cafe, and you are talking about Rolexes. London is no better by the way.

Well the one I was looking for isn’t ! (126334 blue dial fluted + jubilee).

Saw one at Bucherer’s with Rhodium dial (priced around 11 k€) but I didn’t want to pull the trigger as I was looking for the blue one.

Which exact one did you treat yourself with btw ?

That's nice - I was thinking of paying Pragnell in Mount St a visit, as I work just around the corner, but it always looks very intimidating with what look like special forces on the door.

The blue dial with sticks (not Roman numerals)

They are nice guys in there, I was there once on a Basel preview for Patek and the new £100K perpetual cal Nautilus was on show, and I was forced to try on other watches as I waited for another to finish viewing it, and as we were all polite Mayfair gentlemen in there behaving like Downton Abbey no one made too much of a fuss, but after a fair while I couldn't wait any more and then another gent entered the fray so I basically marched my SA over to the guy and asked if I could have a go, needs must in the end, no matter where you are.

I had a worse experience with LV. I knew what I wanted (wallet), I saw it behind the glass, and every sales person in there either did not speak English or did not want to help. And yes, I asked in French, as best and politely as I could. They were straight up rude and will never get a dollar from me.

Rolex shops have for the most part treated me well. Lack of inventory is not their problem, as long as they aren't a-holes to me I couldn't care less. If they don't let you in the door, well, you should really take your money elsewhere IMO (grey or buy used if you still love the model).

AD’s have plenty of watches within their display cases. Purchase one of those and enjoy 👍

Listen, I am very worldly and cultured. For example, I know everything I need to know about Paris by watching, “National Lampoon's European Vacation”. No thanks!

When my office re-opens properly, I'll pop round there one lunchtime, brave the SAS on the door, and have a look round. And maybe round it off with a drink at the Connaught

Good point, actually the SA probably didn't notice it until I was inside but he asked me about it, where I was from and told me they cant get them. That was actually during a 2018 trip to Paris. Cool?

Hey thanks, I thought I made this guy mad or something. I do remember the guard at the door looking at my watch also as we looked inside so I think it was at least a conversation starter, thanks again!!

Did you buy the available DJ from them OP ? This would show them you’re a serious buyer and not a flipper.

According to TV/movies, the Eiffel Tower can be seen from every vantage point in Paris. No exceptions.

If the AD can't deliver, why not just buy from a trusted Grey dealer? Life's too short to F around. Could care less about my name on the card.

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for taking some time to participate in this thread.

Stopped by the AD today, walked in and asked for the DJ41 Jubilee Fluted. The guy kindly offered me and my brother a drink and told us to give him a minute then came back with a lovely one with light grey dial. I immediately fell for it, gorgeous watch.

I then asked to be put on the waitlist for the Batgirl haha !

Will post pictures when I’m home, can’t take my eyes off this baby !

Get in, you made the right move. Looking forward to seeing the pictures & you're off and running with your AD now. DJ41 is such an awesome first Rolex to start off your collection.
