Why is metallic bezel still offered on few Daytona models?
This confuses me so looking for insight from the forum. Rolex still offers metallic bezel on few Daytona models. Why is that? Is it a long term plan to continue offering both ceramic and metallic bezel options within the Daytona collection or at some point all watches will have the ceramic bezel?

Because if they rolled out the ceramic all at once what would they release each year?? Small changes over time is the Rolex m.o.

Not everyone wants a ceramic bezel. Some think they look a little too much like plastic.

I’m glad they still make the gold bezels, I definitely prefer them

They certainly shatter. I’ve had it happen. Not on a Daytona, yet. But I banged it pretty hard on a ladder tonight and it it certainly could have shattered.
I did break a sub insert. And that has a metal bezel to partially protect the sub insert. Daytonas don’t have the metal bezel. I’m not sure Daytonas need ceramic. But it does look good on some of the iterations.

Because it’s viable - there is a segment of buyers that strongly prefer their PM watches in full metal vs ceramic bezel.

Good move imo. For people who don't want a black bezel Daytona.

If you take the two tone(and removed the bracelet), it wouldn’t be a two tone any longer. It would be a steel head (with gold crown and pushers) with a half gold half steel bracelet.
I think that, for the two tone models, it’s really the only way for them to include gold in the head of the watch. |

I think a gold/TT Daytona would look fine with a ceramic bezel |

There’s already a full gold Daytona with ceramic. The TT sub is totally different as the bezel insert sits in. The Daytona ceramic doesn’t sit in anything. |

I hope Rolex will be smart enough and not change it with all CB. PM ones ooze class, luxury and maturity. It's not that CB don't look nice, i love their shine, but they often have blind spots on them because of it, and pretty much all the coloured ones have shades that make them look like toys. Also, the PM bezels have the perfect proportion, the CB are a bit larger, looking a bit odd, just like the bezels on the bigger DD & DJ compared to the ones on the 36 variants. |

The all gold Daytonas are esp popular with women, so there is a huge market there they do not want to mess with.

I prefer the rose gold and white gold with matching gold bezels. The oysterflex looks fine with the matching black CB but has a younger more sporty look.

But on the OF watches, CB seems to blend better than a PM bezel would have. |

Have both ceramic and steel, definitely prefer the steel. Also the ceramic has a tendency of always looking dirty carrying smudges etc.

Arguably its not like the Sub. A TT sub has a gold bezel with a ceramic insert. The entire bezel on a Daytona is ceramic. But I’d agree - a TT Daytona would look good with a ceramic bezel. You’d be getting a fair bit less gold however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
