What do you all think about those watch protectors such as Styx watch protection film?

I think you have the right attitude OP. I have owned items that I was so afraid to damage or even let show signs of use that I never truly enjoyed the item to its fullest potential. We all treasure these watches and would never intentionally be careless, but they are meant to be worn and enjoyed. Beautiful watch indeed !!

...I know I'm probably wrong with this, but is it possible that the side of the watch with the scratch still has the factory plastic on it? If so, it may just be the plastic that is scratched.

Just an idea after studying the pic for a bit.

Nope. I wish.

Although I did find one sticker the AD forgot to remove ...the small one on the Rolex crown on the clasp. I left it and it eventually fell off.

All I know is, if I had a chocolate lab, I’d get a CHNR, too. Better your puppy’s tooth scratch than just a hit on the car door.

The scratch is not as deep as it looks.

While I don't think I plan to take any action, it is in a very annoying location. Visible every time I look down.

I am curious what do others use to polish/buff to a fine shine a small spot like this? My fear would be making it worse.

If I had a lab puppy that cute, I’d get a CHNR, as well. Plus, it’s a MUCH better story than a ding from a car door.

BTW, I’d try getting a less expensive chew toy. I would also leave the scratch, especially since it’s your own pup. YMMV

Glad to hear the scratch looks worse than it is.

I have a 10 year old Pomeranian and constantly have to be careful with him. He loves his belly rubbed and all 4 paws are going at once when I do. Damn nails are sharp and more than a few scratches on my watches (and my arm) from him. But I do love him.

Not at all. You're correct, actually. I have an Oyster Perpetual from 1966 that I got from BOB'S WATCHES that looks brand new at first glance!

But when you look very closely at the bezel, you can see all those "nicks" that had been polished out over the years.

And YES, I do think about that. I look at a particular nick and think, "I wonder what year that one happened? 1969? 1972?"

I don’t subscribe to the scratches tell a story ... but also don’t subscribe to the idea of safe queens. I’ve had my sd43 for a couple of months and it goeswith me everywhere and does everything. I won’t remember the story about a scratch... but the scratches won’t keep me from using it.

Btw, where can I get those anti scratch adhesives... Jk ;)

Less than 24 hrs with the new SD43. Was out on a friend’s boat and having a great time until the swells came in and the boat took us for a little ride. Bracelet got a few decent scratches but everything else was unscathed so I got lucky. But hey, at least it was on the water where the watch was meant to be, right?

Going to the AD this week to add a half link as it’s a little tight and I’m wearing it on the last extension (dive link removed). Will see if they can do a quick brush in-house, if not no biggie. More will come and the brushed oyster camouflages it nicely from about a foot away. Cheers.
