My six month blur is around 4-5 minutes beyond midnight and I am fine about it. I am currently at 1 second past atomic time after winding/setting once at purchase date 4/21/16.

I've never paid attention so I couldn't say when the date turns over. Frankly, as long as it's correct on the morning I don't really care.

This problem is easily adjustable by moving the hands on the watch where they attach at the centre and connect to the mechanism. I'm surprised that you had your watch exchanged...

I too am amazed that an AD would so willingly do that exchange. I wish my AD demanded excellence with such fervor.

Exactly! All it takes is a watchmaker to remove and reposition hands so they are closer to midnight when the date wheel advances.
There was nothing "defective " with your watch.
My Hulk Sub bought brand new changes the date at approximately 12 minutes past midnight. Not a big deal to me, and once it goes in for it's first service this will change depending on where the hands are placed back on the pinion shaft.

He is going to be so disappointed when the new watch will do the same thing. Or worse.

LOL. There is NO guarantee that date flips exactly at 12 midnight

I suppose if one considers the date change a part of the precision equation, then it would require the change over point to be consistent.

As another respondent has stated.
Don't go and get yourself a new DD40

It would be an interesting exercise to ask Rolex what their acceptance level is regarding the changeover point for the date.
Not sure if you are agreeing with me or not because of the emoticon. Here is the reason

I'm not up at that hour and if I was I wouldn't be looking at my watch.

I was extremely surprised that this was happening considering that this was a $12k brand new watch. I returned it to Tourneau and there was a senior VP of the company there who examined the Rolex and said he's never seen this in his 25 years with the company. He offered to exchange the watch with a brand new one that would be directly ordered from Rolex and today I received the new Rolex and theres no problem with the date change. I was wondering if anyones ever had this problem with this model or any other new Rolex.
Believe it or not I have sent my DSSD 5 times to our local RSC and they are unable to fix that issue. My watch is changing date at 3minutes.35 seconds.
I've bought this watch brand new on December 2019 and since that time it is always in transit from my town to our local RSC. The same problem has been reported for the DD40 but Rolex is unable to fix it. So what would be the next step. Your comments would be appreciated.
