Icon20 Looking for an 18238 DD 36mm YG

I’m currently in the market for a daydate. Recently i found one at a local jeweler for 12k (1990 18238 DD 36mm YG with diamond string dial). He was also willing to sell with a different dial for 10,500. Personal i would like a more recent one with the factory dial preferably roman. Anyone have some recommendations? I generally check crown and caliber, chrono24, and bobs watches. Thank you for your help!

Look for the best condition bracelet.

Dials are not a concern, these are plenty available < 1K (original) on the market.

Better save up and go for an early 6 digit. These come with both old style and new style clasp. Get the new one.

Thank you for the info. I definitely would like to get a 6 digit. Seems like Average price range is 15k minimum.

Between 5 digit and 6 digit the case shape changes quite much. The 6 digit is heavier, because more solid also in the bracelet.

I would buy the one with the best condition bracelet. Don't worry about the dial as there are plenty of them out there and it can be easily swapped and you can always sell the dial the watch comes with to fund the new dial. One thing that makes the 18238 so great is there are tons of different dials out there for them from basic to very elaborate. The 118238 will be about 40 grams heavier than a 18238 but of course it comes with a higher premium.

I have seen of great reviews for rolliworks regarding repair of the bracelets. But then again that money could just be applied toward the purchase a better condition bracelet.

I got great bracelet service from RolliWorks on my 18238. 30 year old watch looks and functions as brand new.

Great watch

I'm partial to the 5 digits myself.

This is my 1991 18238 that was "bark" modified around 1996.

Do you remember how much was the total cost to have the bracelet serviced? I tried emailing and sending dm on ig but no reply
