  • The glidelock is more customizable, but I can get a near perfect fit on a 5 Digit model
  • There have been times where the 6 Digit felt uncomfortable on my smaller wrists, while this has never happened with a 5 Digit
  • That said, a perfectly snug 6 Digit usually feels great on the wrist
  • The quality feel of the 6 Digit bezel is amazing, while the 5 Digit bezel feels cheaper
  • The look of the 5 Digit bezel is cooler than 6 Digit bezel
  • The 6 Digit is a little more more bling/jewelry, while the 5 Digit is a little more tool/vintage
  • Despite all of the differences, they don't look much different from more than a few feet away. All divers have a certain look, and these two watches will project a very similar image to most people you meet. It takes close inspection to really appreciate the differences.
  • The heavy duty bracelet on the 6 Digit feels cool, sort of like a gold watch
  • The clasp on the 5 Digit looks better than the long bulkier glidelock piece, which covers the entire underside of my wrist.
  • however, most people will NEVER notice the clasp on your watch
  • While the 5 Digit clasp is considered a cheap tuna can by some, it has stood the test of time and has proven to be plenty durable. The over-built glidelock doesn't offer much practical improvement aside from the awesome customization

It's a toss up as to which watch is better for you.
I agree with what is said here. I am one who could not get over the clasp construction of the 5 digit. It was like pulling teeth to get rid of my 16610 for the 116610 but I have not looked back since. Feeling the quality of a premium product makes all the difference in my opinion. The 16610 is still a gorgeous looking watch!

It has occured to me that Rolex was trying to take off the Genta inspired Royal Oak/Nautilus abrupt Shape/discontinuity. I don't like the look, believe the 5 digits were close to perfection and think Rolex should have brought another watch out entirely instead of imparting this to the icons. Or produce both case shapes like they did with the OysterQuartz. Wonder how many would buy the maxi one then?
All this being said I can fully understand how some might love the look. The 6 digit crowd needs to understand that when you radically alter an icon a great many will not agree or see it as an improvement over what was a huge part of the previous iconic design. Even if the bracelet is heavier/clasp better.

Bezel width, case, dial diameter

So if both models are same 40mm outer bezel edge to outer bezel edge but bezel is wider on the supercase, does that mean that the dial diameter is smaller on 116610?

The six digit Sub looks too square to me. I do love the new glidelock bracelet, maxi dial & ceramic insert but these things could have bene without changing the size of the case.

5-digit contour with the 6-digit ceramic and bracelet will be perfect. The 5 digit clasp looks flimsy and cheap

Watch proportions and comfort. I'm obviously talking about 16610

I am going to go 5 digits all the way. Planning to collect all of them.

For the LN I personally prefer the ceramic 116610, but for the LV, I believe both the 5 and 6 digit can coexist in the same collection!

I have both. The five digit is definitely more dainty and dated in appearance.
