Your plan to surprise your wife with the gift of a Rolex and you want participants here to provide their opinions about possible dials ?

I just talked to your wife. She chose the mother of pearl.

Mother of pearl. If you’re willing to go down to the DJ31 I’m sure you can swing close to a 20% discount and throw some bling into it if you were going the AD route.

Not knowing your wife, I'd recommend the MOP dial.

Mother of Pearl or anything with Diamonds. Possibly in a dial color she likes.

I think that she should choose - not sure how a bunch of strangers who don't know her tastes/preferences could really help? At the least, check with other family or friends? That said, DJ 36 is a great choice and available in many configurations - have you discounted the jubilee bracelet?

If it is for an everyday watch that she can wear up or wear down, I would forgo the diamond bezel. A diamond dial, maybe. A diamond bezel will make it too dressy. We went into the AD without her knowing that this visit was to shop for her. She looked at almost every DJ model and selected the blue on jubilee/fluted bezel. She loves it, as it is classy enough to wear with formal wear and sporty enough to wear with jeans.

Good luck - I guess you know her preferences better than anyone!
Imo the WG fluted bezel looks great, but works best with the jubilee. If you are going for a gemset bezel then perhaps consider a darker dial for greater contrast? But again, it comes down to her personal preference.

YOU personally like it. What about her? I’d recommend taking her to the Rolex AD and surprise her by saying “choose which one you want.” That way everyone wins.

31mm -34mm would be my ideal choice for a lady. I prefer simplicity, over ostentatious.

Congrats - please post some pics when it arrives. Sounds like a nice configuration

I see you started a thread regarding the SD vs DSSD - both are great, good luck deciding

I’d casually go to mall and “for fun” have your wife try a few on. 39mm dive watches look great on my wife. But for DJ, the 31mm looked the best. This was her choice. Fortunately, she doesn’t care for watches in the slightest, so she didn’t get it. However, I would personally ensure your wife picked it. Buy it. Save for a special occasion, and surprise her with her choice.
