I would do whatever makes the watch more comfortable for me.
Although, if you try it on at an AD and don't like the weight; maybe a different watch would be better. |

The platinum Daytona is not for me but I doubt I would change the strap if I had one. You have to be careful when you change straps on PM watches if you have it insured. E.g if you had a yellow gold strap and you replace it with say leather or rubber some insurance companies will void it becouse it's not how you insured it.

I would not buy a platinum watch only to turn around and remove half of the platinum content. Nothing wrong with wanting to change it up once in a while though.
