Same with restoring a car.
People pay 100s of thousands for a rust bucket shell... Then pay another 100k plus to restore it. Is it still the same car? |

It’s the same watch if the final recipient remains completely unaware of its previous circumstances other than that it was once worn and then handed down by the grandfather.
It’s not the same watch, once the circumstances are completely revealed.
