You know ADs have to get a license to sell Rolex and they have to stay within MSRP? Not saying they regulate this like they should, but marketing and sales takes this seriously to ensure their product doesn’t get priced out of the market. Goal is to be competitive in the market place, profitable and grow their brand popularity. Rolex makes the same no matter what, so if ADs would all do this, and make their product above what the consumer would pay, they would be hurt in the long run. Rolex is a legendary long standing company. They don’t have to turn a quick dollar or have a blockbuster year. It is and always will be the long game with Rolex.

Sometime ago I stopped by that shop. Interesting store and I do not really blame the owner. Business is business.

Weird video. I didn’t like the guy shooting the video. He was “aggressively polite”. Rubbed me the wrong way. Definitely someone I would not want to hang out with.

Why would the store owner agree to be videotaped saying what he did? Something is fishy. I think it could be staged.

If they do, and Rolex finds out, oh oh. Please share which ADs you are talking about.

EXPOSED - Grey Dealer Spills the Beans on ADs?

As other have stated, this video does help to confirm some of the things that many on here were thinking about for quite some time. Despite all the BS that happens we collectively as a community keep buying these watches. By doing so we all say we endorse their business practices by our vote with our consumer dollars.

The reality is this BS will probably never die unless the hype behind the brand slows or fades. The other thing that is crazy is how many of us tell other people to pay the over hyped prices, again endorsing the fact that as a community we are all ok with these business practices.

ADs selling above msrp is not unheard of. Generally this occurs in the Middle East, Asia, and India. Seems rare in the EU and USA

Ok makes sense. I have been to many US stores and have never seen over MSRP.

A manufacturer can not dictate the price at which a reseller sells an item. That is de facto price fixing and against the law in the US. To get around this, manufacturers often set MAP (minimum advertised prices) in exchange for coop or marketing support. But, dealers (whether they sell watches or cars) can sell at whatever price they choose.

Ok - this sounds like it could be true, but still have never seen or bought a Rolex in the US over msrp from an AD.

because they are just bundling them instead, eliminating the need to go over msrp

And a manufacturer can just cut off a dealer for not following their “guidelines” so there’s that. I have shopped at multiple US dealers in my 30+ years of new Rolex buying and they have all mentioned that selling over MSRP here is taboo.

Yup I was told they are not allowed to do so . So the msrp is the price end of story

Rolex is encouraging them and part of business, even they hide the ADs name from the new card for helping.

The guy who made that video is so embarrassing. That’s the same guy at cars and coffee that doesn’t have a car there but wears Ferrari tshirts and takes 400 pictures with a giant camera. Complete weirdo.
