Yeah I know right. Incomming's without the watch, I understand you just "got the call" but go get the watch and then tell us the complete story, otherwise it's just a false alarm. If I want suspense and drama I definitely don't come to TRF for it, that's where my wife and netflix come in..

But nevertheless, future end the week congrats, it'll make for an awesome weekend with your new watch.
Standing by for your pics....

So here’s my story. I started with panerai, and jumped straight to AP. I still remember when I was unboxing the Pam 111. I remember the years when I’ve been eyeing the royal oak offshore, but couldn’t get myself to spend 15-20k on a watch. I also remember telling myself and everyone that I will never get a Rolex because it’s a brand for those wannabes.

My AP experience has been bumpy. I bought my first ROO navy pre-owned. My wife who was expecting our first child at that time told me: when our baby is born, you would not have time and money to spend on watches. If you like it, why not just buy it? I still remember her words clearly. So I got my dream watch. Within a year, it stopped running. I panicked and call up the dealer and AP. It needs a service because it has not been serviced for like 8 years, and it has been heavily polished, I was told by AP. My heart sank a little. It’s not as perfect as I thought. That’s when I started reading this forum, and got attracted to the Royal Oak on bracelet. I wanted to buy my wife a gift for the hard time she went through carrying our baby, and also as a gift to celebrate this important milestone. Long story short, we bought a ladies RO and were allocated a RO 15500st blue. AP today is very hard to catch up with. Their new releases are either impossible to obtain, or impossible to love. I got tired of their game and think it’s time to move on. I still love my RO and will keep it forever if I can.

Someone says the appreciation and respect for Rolex follows a inverted bell curve in one’s watch journey. The more i read about Rolex, and the more I got rejected when asking for sports Rolex in shop, the more I wanted to get my hands on one. I went to a shop, had a nice chat with the branch manager, was offered a YM rhodium dial but it didn’t sing to me. I ended buying 2 non Rolex watches on behalf of a friend who was stuck overseas due to lockdown and got a pretty good deal for him. I also put my name down for a rootbeer.

Within a month I got the call - a huge surprise. When I see the watch the first time irl I was blown away, despite me still wearing my RO. The rootbeer is a totally different watch and it does not try to compete with other sports watch. It’s a well mannered and reserved gentleman. The warmth of the chocolate and black bezel, and occasional sparkle of the rose gold bezel edge, matches perfectly with the two tone bracelet.

With my current 3 watches - Pam111, royal oak 15500 blue and rootbeer (sold my ROO) - I think I have reached my destination. The journey was fun and its time to enjoy the scenery, at least for some time.

A very interesting read, OP. Am knocking on the AP door myself, wondering if I should actually desire to be let in.

The CHNR is a stunning watch I think. Have tried it on, loved it but ultimately it isn't the right choice for me. Happy for you, hope you'll keep enjoing it and I'd like to know how your RO will fare in the medium term re: wrist time,

Cheers
Marc

Able to let us know what 2 watches did you get from your AD to be allocated the rootbeer?
