Icon5 GMT Master IIc - Bezel Question

Hello all,

I'm about to make my first Rolex purchase and I'm 99.9% positive its going to be the SS GMT IIc.

The watch is gorgeous, has amazing weight and overall just looks great on my wrist.

My only hang up / worry is having such a large, colored bezel. I know the ceramic is "virtually indestructible" according to Rolex, but I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced other wise?

Any/All feedback is appreciated!

I have had mine for over 7 months and have worn it daily. No major incidents but have had regular accidental bumps and scrapes on my granite counter tops and various things that my wrist bumps into. Not even a tiny scratch on the bezel or crystal. The watch is amazing and I love mine.

I have had mine on for almost 7 weeks straight. I have hit mine a few times pretty good and have yet to break anything on it. Drug it across my sons brand new grip tape and I thought for sure it was going to be scratched but it was not. I would recommend this model to anyone. It is a great watch and wear very well on my 6.75” wrist.

Check out my latest post in the Gallery I just took these tonight and the watch still looks great from a far.

Good Luck,

I have heard rumors of knocking one onto a hard floor and having the fall shatter the ceramic bezel. I've also heard that the bezel is waaay more expensive to replace than the aluminum ones.

That said, I picked up my IIc Saturday, and it hasn't left my wrist yet. I'm still getting used to the "oversize" numbers on the bezel and lume on the dial (all are bigger vs. the previous GMTs), but I am very happy overall.

I am happy to report that the PCL's don't seem to be as scratch-prone as I originally feared (desk-diving duty only, thus far).

Yes, there was a thread and rumours on this and other forums about cracked bezels and the high cost of replacing them... but after many calls for pics, the original posters remained silent... the silence was deafening!

Methinks it was just trolls looking to raise angst...

I don't own one but my friend does - and he's very satisfied with it. Apart from the bezel's strength, he loves it because it's the most accurate watch in his collection, which says a lot because he owns 2 Pateks, 2 Langes, a Vacheron and an FP Journe.

Forget the bezel concerns. There are NO problems with it at all. It's the most attractive bezel in the Rolex lineup and will outlive all of us. Mine's been banged, bumped, dropped, spent a week in ocean off Costa Rica, and it's 100% perfect.

Thanks Everyone, that's all the info I needed. I couldn't sleep last night knowing that IIc was waiting for me at Royal De Versaille!

Very glad I joined this site! Although I did get an email saying that someone tried to log into my account 5 times last night. Not sure what info they want to get in there haha

Never seen a picture or read an accounting of a broken ceramic bezel. They are 12 times more costly to replace than the aluminium bezel rings but if they don't break who cares...
