Market For 16710 "Coke"

Hi Everyone,

I stumbled across 2 16710 Coke GMT's. They seem to be hovering around the 10k price mark. What do you guys use to determine value? Both are watch only (no box or papers) one is from a trusted seller on here and one is from wannabuyawatch which is local to me. I was on Chrono24 and the prices seemed to be all over the place.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds about right. 16710's shot up from being below subs about 5-6 years ago and then seemed like they were going to haywire. Seems to have plateaued around 10k depending condition and accessories.
I would counter around 8 and see how they take it, or if you 'need' the watch, counter at 9k.

As with any of these older pieces, there's a lot that goes into valuation. Post the examples here and you'll get the scrutiny of the experts.

Thanks for the suggestion. One is from Grey and Patina and one is from Wannabuyawatch. Links below.

https://wannabuyawatch.com/product/r...ss-circa-1990/

The one from wannabuyawatch is a birth year watch for me, but looks like it may be a bit polished. I am no expert so it could just be lighting etc.

The biggest difference between the two is the luminous material used. For the Grey and Patina example, it won't patina as it is luminova. As for the other, its tritium and has already begun to get some character and will continue to do so, creating a much more vintage look to the piece as the lume begins to darken. (if you think a watch with white gold surrounds is vintage).

Do you have any experience with either dealer? Wannabuyawatch seemed a little pricey, but I am no vintage watch expert.

For 10k you can probably get a nice no holes F/D/Z series right here on TRF. More if you want a full set. Be patient. Figure out exactly what you want and keep your eye on the classifieds.

Chrono24 is not a good place to look when studying prices... you will literally see sellers asking double what other sellers ask and everything inbetween...

The end of 1997 coke had a brief movement update, that would be the one to have in my opinion.

This is true but they are priced accordingly and quite a bit more than the original budget

I believe the movement update was in 2007 not 1997.

For me condition is the biggest determining factor for price.

I would try your local dealer that you mentioned and ask to handle the watch. Bring a jeweler's loupe even. Examine as much of the watch as you can. See if there's any dial damage, or any uneven surfaces from a polish done in the past.

I would be more comfortable paying that kind of price for something I can thoroughly, physically examine than one that I can only see pictures of.

However, if the trusted online seller has a good return policy if you're not happy after receiving the watch, then consider that route too.

There are many 16710s out there it’s a very active market. Look around. Compare condition. Originality. BP. Seller. Etc. you can quick understand what the market bears on a 16710
