I was at my AD today talking Rolex and mulling over a Daytona. I asked him about polishing the Daytona at service time, and how that impacted on the engraved bezel. He said that they polish the watch with Rolex polishes, a multi-step process, and then they restore the black on the engraved areas with a process provided by Rolex.

Does any of the watchmasters on here know if this is true? If so, what is the process that restores the black to the engraved areas?

I don't think Rolex (or any watchmaker) would restore the black on the engraved bezel. Maybe they just lighly polish the bezel?

Thought they polished the case and just replaced the bezel.

I don't doubt that they have a method of restoring the black, any experts here that can chime in?

If the bezel still has the black in the numbers, I polish it in a way that wont wear out the black or the engraving. If black is needed, I can re enamel the bezel, but only if the engraving hasn't been touched by an ixperienced hand. Oh yeah, I dont remember Rolex ever restoring a bezels numbers but I should check on that.
