Sapphire question.
Is the Sapphire on the GMT IIc coated with anything?
I ask as my local water is VERY hard. I sometimes get water spots and they do not come off very easy. Can I use Polywatch on the sapphire to clean it off or will it remove the coating? Thanks in advance, Danny <> |

No, there is no coating on the crystal. Try some windex!

The cyclops of the GMT IIc has the AR (anti-reflective) coating

Yes, it's on the underside where it's protected. It would only last a short time if it was on top. I would like to see AR coating on the rest of the crystal as well.

When you say the AR coating is on the underside do you mean it's on the surface where the cyclops is glued on to the crystal?

It is advisable to wipe of the watch after bathing it.

I agree, Dom.
I always try and dry my whole watch if it has been wet. You can clean the crystal with any household glass cleaner, it won't damage it.
