Advice from the more knowledgeable out there
I have been a Rolex fan for the last 7 years and have been somewhat lucky in acquiring what I have at retail.
Sub date BLNR on oyster BLRO As is a lot of people my grail is the Daytona and not because it’s the hot watch, it sells for the biggest premium, it is quite simply the one I like the most. I do not think I have any chance of getting a Daytona at retail. My daily is my sub and I love it (conversation on lug size for another day), it goes on the wrist pretty much every morning. The GMT’s are beautiful watches and ones I enjoy wearing, but tend to wear for going out, special occasions etc. I am reluctant to go grey, but it is that or never get the Daytona. The premium over market value is too crazy for me. The sub I would not sell but the GMT’s I would be tempted to for the Daytona. What would a likely fair deal be if I traded both or ones individually. Appreciate your help and whether I would end up regretting it. |

For me I'd save the GMT Pepsi, and swap the Sub+Cash for a Daytona. Or you can get an older model WG daytona on oysterflex for your GMT (worth around 20k)

I walked in with no purchase history and walked out with it after going in to enquire about a GMT. I knew nothing about Daytonas or their desirability at the time so I can honestly say I bought one for no other reason than I liked it |

Honestly I wouldn't sell your watches for one hugely inflated watch.
You may still get it. Unless I misunderstood things, your watches you got at RRP came from the same AD? That puts you in a good position to receive a Daytona but it may take 4 years. It was released in 2016, it won't change until 2025 - 2030 I don't think and even if it does, it will be a minor change. Keep holding on, enjoy what you have for now. Alternatively you could buy the WG steel dial. It's a very nice piece. That you can get at RRP quickly (well for me it took just a couple of months). They seem to hold their value too so its a fairly safe bet. You could trade it when the steel comes and pay for the steel and get your money back, plus the difference between the two and some profit which is likely. See it as just letting the money in the bank move to on your wrist instead. |

As others have said the white dial Daytona is way to inflated. It’s probably better to come to terms that it may just not happen for you right now and will probably be a couple years before these come back to reality pricing. In the meantime, I’d enjoy what I have

Look at what you have in your watches at msrp. See what the trade value is and what you can get a Grey Daytona-C for. Put the best deal together and see then if it is worth it to you. The actual cost of the Daytona-C will be what you paid for the other watches at msrp. That figure will work a lot better than the outright cost of the Daytona-C in the Grey Market. I would do it if that is what you want. Let us know what you decide.

Appreciate all the advice, really got the bug to get the Daytona and feel I would be happy with a 2 watch collection. Although I do think I could grow to regret this decision
However, the BLNR was my first Rolex, my sons a Batman nut and I got when he was 2 years old and it is the one he always comments on. I think I would regret selling it TBH. The Pepsi is a stunning watch but I don’t wear that often. Feels the least me Can’t see AD getting me a Daytona TBH, but I will try and be patient. |

Be sure you actually want the Daytona and aren’t caught in the hype. I had one for a week (after being caught in the hype). I know some love them but to me it’s really nothing special in person. It’s hard to see the time in some lights and the lack of a date is very annoying.

Do you have any interest in a pre ceramic Daytona? If paying over retail is an issue, maybe consider buying a Daytona that is no longer available to purchase at retail, then your not paying over. Going for something like a 16520 patrizzi or a 116520 pana dial can be a great option, your purchasing something objectively rare, rare enough to protect any financial commitment while also allowing you to purchase your desired watch. That’s my advice for what it’s worth
