Especially if you're a fan of the film, Apocalypse Now. I know the new SPB151 looks pretty close but it's a bit more narrow than the original 6105. The case I mean. It's really not quite the same as the 6105.

It really should come on a waffle strap instead of a SS bracelet IMHO.

Thoughts?

I believe the newer version is a better design, especially the crown design.

I get that. I guess I'm just a sucker for the 6105. I think the 6105 is the good in between based on all three models. The original, the limited one that came out last year, and the new one coming out. It's in between prices of all three. Although finding one is getting hard to do and if you are lucky enough to find one in original shape it will likely need a service. Costing you much more.

I actually like the new turtle designs better. The version you reference and the original one Have the general turtle case, but bulge around the crown where the new versions don’t. Not sure how I feel about that. The hands and markers also have a square shape which really stands out against a rounded case.

I am looking forward to the new model arriving and taking a look at the green model. At 42.7 mm I am not sure I will like it as much as the current generation of Turtles but until I see it and try it on, I have hope. I own the SLA033, Captain Willard, and it is my favorite Seiko watch. I hope the green version works and I will have two similar pieces.

Funny, I think the green one looks barfy and the case of the two looks more like a SRP. I'm not feeling the point on the seconds hand and that stupid Prospex "X" is maddening to me. I also think it should be more in line with the new Sumo price range which has the same movement and under a $1,000.

But overall it's going to be a big seller and I'd like to fondle one in the flesh first. I have two of the originals one in pristine condition so it might be cool to have this alongside as I can't afford the SLA033.

SPB151J1 is a cracking good watch, but its a bit of a smack in the face to those who bought an SLA033

Can't get the original 6105 new so I will get a SPB151J1, SLA033 is too much $$$ for a Seiko imo even I tried it out so many times.

No doubt the new versions are fantastic watches but for me, the original has a charm that can’t be beat.

I agree. I own a 6105 and the sla033. I also recently sold my sbdc109. The re-issues are nice, and while they share a lot of 6105 "dna", they'll alway be modern interpretations/re-imaginations of the original.
