Winding is clicky - 16700

Hey all. New to me 16700 (~1991). When I got it, the manual winding feel was not too unlike my DJ41, but starting last week, turning the crown in the winding position makes a very noticeable clicking sound and feel, like a ratcheting. I haven't counted, but something like 30 clicks per full turn. Whether fully dead or running, the sound is the same.

I wouldn't worry except that this is a change in behavior. Any thoughts?

It does ratchet. Without a ratchet mechanism you could never wind the mainspring. Additionally, the bridle inside the mainspring barrel has notches around the inside where it, too, "ratchets" so you don't break if with overwinding.
