Sub Ghost Bezel Question

Hello everyone, here I am with my first post ever.

I am a 25 year old architect, at the beginning of his career. I just signed for my first apartment renovation and wanted to get my father a present, for helping me in my studies and pointing me the right direction all the time.

I went to the Rolex shop here in Milan and asked for a Daytona, and the person who works there literally laughed at my face. Even though I found this attitude very but very rude, I just wanted to move on, without changing my mood. Now I do not want to move onto different subjects but in the end I realised that I can't get him any watch that he will like.

I realised that he's very into vintage things in general so started to look for a vintage watch. On chrono website I found this watch. I have doubts on its originality, as I don't really understand watches and the watch is from Thailand where -I heard- there are lots of fake watches.

I love the bezel of this watch as it is faded, but in the description it says it is from 2000 and the reference is 14060. Is it normal for a watch to fade this much in only 20 years? I read comments of others who have watches since 80s which are still black.

Lastly I would really appreciate if you could tell me more or less how much this watch should cost. I am so scared of being scammed or tricked on paying too high with no experience in the market.

Sounds off. Talk to a watch dealer. Nothing noticeable should happen to a Submariner bezel from normal use in that timeframe.

It is unlikely that the bezel will fade that much in 20 years on a Sub, but not impossible. If he was wearing it a lot outside in a sunny environment in a sunny country, perhaps one like Thailand, it could fade.

Just found the watch on C24. Wasn't hard to do because it's the only 14060 listed in Thailand. Here it is. And here's what I can say. The bezel is not original bezel from that watch. Look at the lume pip. It is yellowed. Which is what happens to tritium. But the watch has Super Luminova lume. So best case scenario it is a real faded tritium bezel from another Sub. Worst case scenario fake. I am no expert on 5 digits, but the watch looks great to me apart from the bezel, so it could be a real older Sub bezel.

That being said I wouldn't get it even if it is real and it's just not an original bezel. First of all, always buy the seller. You need to buy from a seller that can be trusted and wouldn't try to screw you over. And if something bad happens, will own up to their mistake. Additionally, you'll end up paying 20+% on top of that to import it. Why go through that hassle, just find a watch already in EU from a reputable seller that will stand behind the purchase.

Laughing in a customer's face I'm pretty sure isn't in the Rolex customer service manual. They need to nip that behavior, sheesh.

OP take the advice offered here. Find a trusted seller in your region.

That bezel did not come on that watch, and is unlikely to be real given the value of it.

Many sellers give fancy names for faded bezel inserts,and today many are artificially aged hoping to extract more money from buyers.Aluminum Inserts are cheap and very easy to replace cost direct from Rolex for around $60
