I think it looks great...it’s just a little loud for an every day piece imho so I think it just comes down to versatility.

When the average man spends 10k on a watch he wants to be able to wear it everywhere.

IMO This is not why many people are not buying PM and jewels on their Rolex watch. While I think Two tone does not look too bad full YG is way over the top for me. RG is Not attractive at all to me at all. WG and Plat makes no sense at all to me because it looks no different and is less durable than SS but costs much more. The other problem I have with PM is that they are so less durable, scratch easy and on polished surfaces quickly look bad from marks. YMMV, but jem stones are not for a man's watch at all, well maybe Dennis Rodman, I would never wear one. They seem to be a ridiculous contradiction when placed on a Submariner, SD or even a GMT. I also do not pay over retail for a Rolex so I have never paid more for a SS model than a PM model and my choice does not have anything to do with cost. I have owned a TT GMT but ended up selling it off because it just scratched to easily. If you like them fine but "everyone" does not feel that way. My wife has a TT date just and used to own a platinum or white gold Yachtmaster; they look fine on her.

I just got a beautiful 36 DJ with a blue dial and diamond markers. I think it looks amazing! model 126234-0038

To each their own though. I think the trend right now is much more of the sporty look, big on the wrist, all SS, glows like a power plant in the dark. Less dressy more casual. I was looking at them but I really just think the DJ and DD are the best IMO. But that's what makes the world go 'round.

If I could only have one Rolex it would a DJ41

I’ve got a SS on a jubilee with stick markers and dark rhodium face. Absolutely fantastic watch...I had no idea how much I would love it

It's all purely personal preference. I like the baguette diamonds on the DD40 but like the sticks on the DJ41. I also prefer the look of the deconstructed romans on the DD40 compared to the flat romans on the DJ41.

The Serti dials on the Subs were very popular in the 90’s. I wore one for years.

I don’t mind diamond dials. However I’d likely go for diamonds on a day date than a steel or two tone date just. In fact I think the platinum day date with glacier blue dial and diamond markets is awesome!
