Keeping accurate time

I haven’t seen a thread about watches actually keeping accurate time or the best watches that do per se.

Not talking looks, movement, money etc etc I have found that many of my watches don’t keep great time.

Brands that I own - Rolex, Omega, Tag, Breitling, Bell & Ross, Shinola, Seiko, Doxa, Swatch, Panerai and a few other older cheap watches I never wear.

I set all my watches to IPhone time so not sure if that is technically 100% accurate however that is my base. Here is the best and worse based on that

BEST TIME KEEPER - hands down the best watches for keeping time is my Shinola. I can wear this for a week and it will be to the second when checking again.

WORST TIME KEEPER - by far the worst is my Tag Heuer Carrera Tourbillion. I forget the last time I checked but if I recall it was like over 2 minutes a day.

All my Other watches fall in the middle but all mostly lose time over time.

How about your best and worst?

You haven’t seen a thread about watches actually keeping accurate time surely you must be joking. There are thousands threads on forum about this subject in fact many obsess over a second difference or so out of 86400 seconds in a day. And no matter the watch, the price, or the brand, its how well they are regulated that matches there owners wearing habits. Take the Chinese made ST19 movement cost around $65,and when regulated correctly can run well inside the COSC spec and match most Rolex in daily accuracy.

This might make sense if each watch was properly regulated prior to its evaluation. Otherwise, one may primarily be seeing how much care the factory took in regulating. Here I imagine you’re interested in the precision of the watch.

Yeah not about some factory spec or what is supposed to keep the best time etc.

Your watches that you wear. What is the best at keeping time and the worst. I found it interesting that my Shinola (a cheap watch) keeps better time on my wrist then any other way more expensive watch. I also found it weird a Tourbillion is the worst.

I have not seen one thread where people actually talk about their best and worst. Yes I have seen thousands about people complaining about one particular model, correct.

I see most of your posts are worthless so fell free to carry on and no need to reply. Go to a thread that actually interests you. If this topic doesn't then move along. Clearly every one of your watches keeps perfect time.

Last wound my GMT Master II over 3 months ago and as of today it’s gained 9 seconds in total. That’s 1 second every 10 days which is better than I’d expect tbh.

My Daytona gets worn every day, and hasn't been manually wound or reset in 10 month. It is currently off by 10 seconds.

FWIW, probably the easiest way to find other threads about accuracy is to search for "86400."

Goodness!! If we deleted threads because members "miss the point", we would have to delete about half of what gets posted.

All mechanical watches are adjustable if they aren't keeping good time, so I wouldn't point my finger at one or the other if they are close.

Among a dozen Rolexes, I find that there is a few seconds variance between them, and I find the same with a half dozen Omegas.

I don't like any of them to be out by more than 5 or 6 seconds or I seek a watchmaker to better regulate it. Regulation is cheap and doesn't take long to do.

Actually, this is funny!
My Tag Heuer Carrera Cal 1887 keeps the best time, 1sec/day!
Breitling Evolution is of by a minute/week! I am going to send it for a service. I have had it for about 2 yrs now. Omegas and Rolexes are within cosc amd metas specs.

Is your Shinola one of their quartz movements ?

Had to check the date on this thread before I started typing. My 40 year old Seiko quartz 150m dive watch 7548-7001 keeps excellent time and has never been serviced! Looking for a nice piece of wood to knock on for luck! Can’t say that for the Rolex but it is much prettier...

Thanks for the clarification.
I was reading your post and couldn't quite get the gist of what you were asking about.

Across my collection over the years the Rolex watches have mostly been magnificent performers. But that only applies to the Chronometer movements with the possible exception of my Wife's watch but neither of us care to check(even out of curiosity) because she's over the moon with it. Happy wife happy life and all that
There are no 32xx movements in our household
I have long had an Omega chronometer which is ETA based that has always run a very close second and an Omega 1861 that's running inside the upper end of COSC tolerances
There's a lovely GS that's consistently running somewhat quicker than their tolerance, as it's my dedicated dress watch i'm not the least concerned but it seems very consistent
There's a cheap Seiko diver somewhere around here which has a 7S26 in it that always seems pretty reasonable too, as an outlier that's probably around 13-18 seconds fast
