Rhodium dials - no longer in production?

Are Rhodium dials no longer in production? Or has Rolex just changed the name to 'Slate'?

In another thread, HogwldFLTR and Goose_104 brought to my attention that the YM40 and the DJ36 are no longer available with a rhodium dial. It appears the Sky-Dweller is also only available in 'Slate' as well.

Anyone got any info on this change?

Ive just checked the website and the Rhodium option seems to be gone however slate is there and looks identical to the rhodium - think its merely a name change?

The dealer I spoke with last told me it was a change in name only.

Like 904L to oystersteel. “Grey” would have been better, but saying rhodium sounds a lot cooler than saying slate.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Rhodium is what my AD called it a couple of weeks back. Evidentally it'll take a while to straighten out the mind set. I don't see any coloration differences on the site. My Slate dialed Daytona looks much lighter colored than my Rhodium Yacht-Master!!! Thanks for posting the thread!!!

Have to agree even rhodium was in the real world just a shade of grey paint on a brass dial.

100% agree with that. Slate sounds nowhere near as appealing as rhodium.

That's interesting info @pulseyou

Does that mean that all Rolexes that were originally Rhodium have now doubled in value?

also guys, It was "Dark Rhodium" - slight difference :)

I cant see any value changes seeing as its just naming convention - the colour is still the same.

I think of slate or dark rhodium as what you'd get now on, say, the DJ41 Wimbledon dial. I think of rhodium as a lighter shade, some might refer to it as silver.
