Glashuette Sea Q - almost pulled the trigger
Tried on the go seaq 39.5 today on bracelet and really liked it a lot. Like the size of the case. The bracelet is incredible. The bezel action is great.
I just couldn’t bring myself to purchase it even with the hefty discount. Maybe the lume is too yellow? Why didn’t they make it no date? Why didn’t they put the 100 hour caliber 36 in it. All these thoughts went through my mind as I did a final lap around the store and ultimately decided it wasn’t for me. Does this happen to anyone else? |

The server would melt if I gave you my list but on the plus side the purchase decisions I have made means I have never sold or traded a watch.

I posted previously I was surprised how much I liked it. Never buy something on the spot but almost did it for the 39.5. I wish yea that it had the better movement and a display back. Don’t usually like the ecru lume either. If they had the blue one probably would have done it.

I also had interest in the blue 39.5, but felt that the movement did not justify the price. The "full size" SeaQ has a far superior movement. This appears to be another example (40mm Blancpain Fifty Fathoms) of the Swatch group putting second tier movements in their smaller watches.

The reason for caliber 39 it's they have not the small date option at caliber 36 only panoramadate and that have looks wrong in the regular SeaQ.

I want to like this piece - just too much else in the category worth looking at over it.

They might have been better served with a cal 36 no date. If I want a date I can go up to the panorama option. Better balance without the date as well.

Yes a nodate have been a lot cleaner but I guess because the original watch have a date and that is the reason this one have it too.

After hemming and hawing I pulled the trigger. Really liked the specs and case back of the bigger version but liked the proportions of the case as well as spacing of the numerals for the 39.5 especially for my wrist size.normally don’t like the faux vintage lume but suits the style. Stuck with this one for awhile if I change my mind hah.

Congrats- that’s a great looking watch.
I love the domed crystal and its incredible dial distortions. |
