Rolex cellini Moonphase opinion and future?
Ever since I got 18038 I got hook on gold watch. So I recently went to check out Gold sub and DD40. Than my AD show me this cellini moonphase from safe. They told very hard to come by and should get it. I didn’t had that much knowledge about cellini so didn’t buy. Also I am still leaning on gold sub or DD40. I know i have dd36 but thinking to give my mom or my future wife.So how is this cellini moonphase? In terms of availability? Resale and future? Im not a resale but I don’t want to spend on a lot of money and loose value. Thank you and till than I have to save some money for my next pc. Let me know what you guys think? Should i go for cellini or gold sub-dd40

i think the moonphase cellini is stunning... i saw it in dubai when it was first released and a couple of months ago in heathrow T2 as well. I dont think its really that hard to find...saw it in a few shops around asia as well. personally i will go for the gold sub... the one with the green dial.

I collect SS sport watches but the Moonphase was an exception to my collection. I love and enjoy this watch. The complications and the details to built the watch is worth every penny. It took Rolex a long time to create this new model of their moonphase. So it has historical value. I collect as a hobby not for investment but I think you won't loose money on this watch. I hope this helps.

I paid 20,500 out the door for mine new & stickered so a great deal off retail can be had for this watch with very little negotiations. Anywhere close to retail you’ll take a bubble bath if future resale is a factor. I’m friendly with a grey and his price to me was 19,750 if I wanted to move it tomorrow. I like the watch so it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. They sit in ad cases like bricks.

If they can modify that Cellini to be an annual or perpetual calendar, it will be the ultimate watch.

I love the look but found the moonphase complication to be too, uh complicated. It just isn't intuitive and is something that should be much more straightforward IMO. But looks-wise, it's a beautiful watch. Seemed like it was love at first sight when it was announced and then relatively quickly lost its buzz.

Not a hard watch to find at all. That was a pile of baloney. There was one sitting in the case at my AD two days ago.
Aside from that I love the watch. It's a real stunner. But from a collectiability standpoint I don't know that I would expect it to increase in value |

I bought a Cellini Moon Phase a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I appreciate that I would take a big hit if I wanted to move it on quickly but it wasn't a 'follow the trend' purchase or something to flip for a profit - I simply put it on my wrist and it just looked perfect for me. Isn't that why we should buy our luxuries? First ever post so please be kind!

I was checking this out in the store 2 weeks ago when I picked up a white gold DD. It so stunning in person and has such a nice feel. I definitely will get one in the future

It is a nice looking watch. It was offered to me by my AD as part of the bundled deal. This watch was in the case and perhaps was sitting in the case for couple of weeks.
I did not fall for this new bundled deal thing my AD has recently started. It is a great watch to have as part of one’s collection. For me, I will pickup a 36mm DD before this one. |

i really like it. can pick up for 20k new anytime. the gold scratches very easily. the moonphase isnt perfect. Its really a tough call, but would buy it if you plan on wearing it. Its a "keep it and use it" watch.

Even Cellini's are now getting harder to find. The chocolate dial in rose gold is amazing but now going for above RRP on David SW.

it's a lovely watch when you look at it in person, and buying it advances your position on the waiting list you have with your ADs. It is definitely a worthy piece in one's collection.
What I didn't know until today was that the date hand is actually in light blue, always thought it was in RG tone. |

nah I'd pass on that.
A full gold Sub or a DD40 is 1000x better than the Cellini. DO NOT SETTLE - especially when you have to drop $36k+ on a gold sub or DD40 now. Its not like the good ol days when they were like $26-$27k. Big money for a single watch in anyone's eyes doesnt matter where you come from. |
