Dads Watch
I just received my dads watch. He was cleaning out an old foot locker from college and found it. Knowing I love watches he gave it to me to be its caretaker. It isnt a Rolex or a high horology piece but it was dads which makes it one of the center pieces in my collection. It will go right next to my grandfathers doctors watch from the late 30s.
It is a Benrus 7001 series. My grandparents gave it to my dad as a high school graduation gift in 1965. The lume is near perfect and glows bright for about 15 seconds. It has an ETA automatic movement and still runs beautifully. Has never been serviced. The condition of the case and crystal are also near perfect. Being in the foot locker for so many years, it is like a time capsule. The original stretch band is long gone so im going to look for a period correct stretch band or just put it on leather.

Looks good.
Leather is a great idea and gets it on your wrist right away. Then you have all the time in the world to decide about something further.

Glad it was discovered before that foot locker got donated to some charity for their thrift store. I know you’ll enjoy it.
One day my parent’s graduation gift to me will get handed down - also from 1965... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
