My new 126660. Prior to that, I wore a SD 166600. Watches today in general are larger and I really fail to see how people can complain about the size of the Deepsea.

I will agree, however, that it is not as comfortable on the wrist as the original 40mm SD due to the top-heaviness and the thickness of the caseback below the level of the bracelet. But the size, I think, is appropriate for the time. And let’s face it, small watches will never make a comeback.

I agree. When I'm not wearing my 126660 I have on my G-Shock Frogman which is 58mm if I remember correctly. I could never go back to a 40mm.

If your happy that’s great. I’m no saturation diver and given the sub and SD has always looked similar and I wear my 16610 daily, always opted for lighter. For those like me who play anything and everything less weight flopping around is always better. There is no real world functional advantage for the SD other than being a little different unless you are one of the few that is into sat diving. The SD looks good at the desk, but I mountain bike, play golf, baseball, basketball and the flopping is not fun and far more likely to occur with the SD.

DSSD is a great watch that for many just doesn't have ideal daily proportions. My wrist falls in the larger category and I wore the DSSD for years and while I enjoyed it I always felt it wore a bit thick. I understand it has to be in order to accommodate the depth rating, but it didn't change the fact. Along came the SD43 and (for me) it solved all the proportion issues I was experiencing with the DSSD. That said if you like it, that's all that matters - I did mine for years.

I think your Deepsea looks amazing. You're right....by Rolex standards it's a monster, but for the broader watch world it's a common size. About the same proportions of a Planet Ocean. The best advice I've seen on the forum - and I absolutely believe it - is confidently wear whatever you want and own it! I saw Jeff Goldblum rocking a very tiny Cartier Tank Solo on a show the other day and it looked amazing. Although I could see smaller watches coming back in vogue.

You mountain bike with your Rolex!? I’m an avid bicyclist myself - both on and off road - and I would never wear mine on rides. One fall and the watch could be scratched up far beyond repair.

I love the watch, but it is too big for me. A lot comes down to personal style. There are classy folk out there with wrists like nine that happily rock a thin 36mm watch and it suits their style and looks awesome. There are also cool folk out there with wrists like mine that wear 46mm Breitlings flopping around, and because it suits their style, it works.

I’m neither classy or cool, I’m pretty boring conservative. So anything between 37mm and 40mm suits me. I do have a 42mm Offshore but that is pure indulgence and i don’t care if it suits me or not!

Whilst I love the deepsea I disagree about smaller watches never making a come back...certainly in europe where less is often considered more ive notice a shift to the classier smaller 40mm and under.
Im sure the US is a different story with regards to size.

The 126660 is my perfect size. Rolex clearly know many people prefer smaller watches. I'm just glad they made this one for me!

I think it’s an awesome rotation watch for sure. I prefer the good old Submariner for daily wear in terms of size and comfort, YMMV

I mean not on the regular, but I’m not the kind of guy to switch watches. So I pick the watch for that day, and my watch needs to hack what every I throw at it, so it happens several times a year. But the other sports, yes golf, basketball, baseball yes without a thought.

Apparently I’m not the only one, I passed some dude last month on the mountain bike trail and he clearly had a tudor black bay on.

No offence, but it sounds like you’re trying to justify something to yourself about the size.

If you have a slender wrist, a large watch will look too big, regardless of what you deem current or not.

If you’re 32” waist, why wear 34”, just because it’s a more ‘manly’ size?

There will always be a huge market for smaller watches and it will stand the test of time.

I don’t think the Deepsea looks ridiculous in that photo at all. The Deepsea is an unashamedly big watch, built for a purpose

Deep Sea looks ok to me,wrist size versus watch size is of no importance,if you like to wear a large watch wear it and enjoy it.Don't worry if it get scratched or dirty,just enjoy having it on your wrist,no fun having it in a case at home.
