I like Blaken, after owning many SS models I feel like I'm ready to create one of my own.
Not really concerned about resale value as I would plan on keeping it, have it done my way and engraved. I just want something different, more unique.

Not for me. I wouldn't be able to get it out of my head that I had paid a lot more money for a modified (second rate or destroyed) Rolex. Would rather have the real (original) thing for less money.

I think some of them are cool. Personally I don't think they are cooler than the original but certainly they are attractive. But as you can see from the responses here, this would not only cost more money to modify, but at the end would hurt resale (if you ever decide to sell).

Some of the designs are pretty cool. Don't see how this is much different than customizing a Lamborghini or Mercedes G wagen, or this (https://www.gq.com/story/watches-of-the-week-1-10-20). It's just a watch, do what you want with it.

I thought their mods to the GMT as an ode to the original Pan-Am ones were gorgeous. Included the whole back story behind the v.scarce white dial version.
That said, i am conflicted because of the whole not standard nature of them. Tricky |

Shaved down maxicase is too thick. Triplock crown sans crownguards sticks out.. Just looks wrong to me. I'm sure it's a quality job (I would hope so).

I would like to see one that is 5-10 years old and was a daily driver. I wonder how the finish stands up over time?
But in general I like the tasteful customs from Blaken, Titan-Black, Mad Paris, etc.. How is it different from customized cars? How is it different from tattoos? Some like to be expressive and have something that is different from stock. Not everyone is a collector and looking at their watch as being an appreciable asset. I also agree that there would be a market for Rolex to offer "heritage watches" and/or custom color options. |

I was in Vail Village last week. A jewelry store there had a few Blakens in the window. The owner had me try on a Black Steel/Everose GMT Master. It was cool but was also $40K. Said it was "One of One" and would be sold quickly.
As the above stated...I view Rolex' as an appreciable asset but also believe in the "buy what you want" purchase as well. |

I think the vintage subs look great.
I wanted a watch that looked like that so I bought the Tudor BB 58 |
