Each person has their own level of risk tolerance. Hopefully it won't happen to you, and if it does, I hope you will take it in stride. But I can also understand that some people might feel a certain level of anxiety that would decrease their enjoyment of a watch if they feel that it is delicate. Sometimes I have a similar feeling about wearing a vintage watch that is in really pristine condition. I don't want to be the person that accidentally puts a ding or scratch on the case after 60 years of careful use. And yes, it probably does detract from my enjoyment of wearing the watch, and I wear it less often as a result.

Interesting dial indeed. Looks like it was manufactured yesterday. Could that be?

This is my '65 gilt 5513 purchased several years ago, to give you an idea of what the dial looks like when the lume collapses. Only the 10 plot is still somewhat puffy, the rest have just enough residual lume to slightly glow briefly after illumination.
In this case it was in this condition when I bought it, and I paid accordingly. It is still a beautiful watch and I wear it regularly. |
