Advice needed - Rolex Oysterdate 1939
Hello, you may have seen me ask this on the New members thread already so apologies if you have.
I've recently been handed down a Rolex Oysterdate which I believe may be from 1939. It's a manual windup mechanism however it's currently not even moving. Could anyone give me some recommendations on where's best to look at having it repaired ? I'd ideally like to keep it as original as possible as it's extremely sentimental. As you can see it's not had much love over the years. I'm from the Norfolk area in the UK. |

That's not a 1939 watch, more like a 1954 to 1955 model. It doesn't look to be in bad shape and some professional care could make it look a lot better.
As such, there are many independent watchmakers in the UK who could service that and do whatever you wanted to improve its cosmetics. Search through previous posts and you'll find a lot of recommendations from other members. |

I would contact Michlmayr's in Norwich, I bought a pre owned vintage watch that had been serviced by them just prior to my purchase, and this performs faultlessly, and keeps excellent time.

I would agree that it is likely 50's.
Let's put this in the Tech Board where some of our UK watchmakers chime in from time-to-time.

I did question the age as the first oysterdate wasn't till the 1950's was it ?
As to putting it in the "Tech Board" how do I go about doing this ? Just a new post or can I re- locate this one ? |
