Getting my first Rolex in a few weeks. Any guidance on how to unbox it?

Throw against the wall. Wear what falls out. If nothing falls out, repeat until it does.

He might get confused opening it since we didn't provide instructions on what to do with the white styrofoam thing.

Wait...is it safe to remove it from the box? My AD told me that it hastens oxidation and ruins the watch. He said to keep it in the original box, in a safe, in the dark. I'd re-think the whole unboxing thing.

I use a hammer... a 3lb. baby sledge should do it, depending on model. For the PM models, an 8lb. sledge is recommended. A minimum of 4 full force swings is required to crack the seal on the box.. Best of luck.

If it is a Submariner, you can only open it while wearing your scuba gear.

Well, I've seen when looking at used watches that they talk about some tags and books and I didn't want to open it in a way that would make it lose value. So it was an honest question.

But go ahead stick it to me some more. Maybe I should rub peanut butter on it first...

Just keep all the tags (green and white) and inner green and outer white boxes. Enjoy your watch.

If your concern is value just leave it in the box. Otherwise, you simply must live stream it on instatube and facepage.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, you are a little late, as it lost most of it's value after I hit it with the hammer and threw it against the wall. I also cut my foot from stepping on the broken glass. It is a bummer since I had removed my flippers first already.

I felt much better about the process after prepping and rehearsing with my Feng Shui consultant, therapist, and astrologer. I recommend you do the same. Good luck!

You hit it with a hammer AND threw it against the wall?

Yeah, that will affect the value. Never both....

If you open in any way, you'll loose value. If you remove all stickers, there goes the value down the drain. I suggest keep it in the box and value will retain and keeps increasing daily!

The best way to preserve value is buy 5+y.o. used Rolex, watch only, no boxes, no booklets, no warranty card, no tags, no stickers.

You start with the only thing you need. It costs less than those fiddly grey dealer BNIB full-sets and keeps pace with its value.

I think it’s time for me to take a break from this forum. The threads are starting to get ridiculous.
