Red Subs?

How many Red Subs have been made and how many are still alive and in good working order and with all the right parts?

Have been intrigued by the Red Sub for a while and I´m going to meet with a guy to check one out.

Just would like to know how rare it actually is, before I make up my mind...

Is it possible to keep the original dial and hand if you need to service it, if not will Rolex replace it with another red dial?
Thanks
//Fred

Hi Fredrik.

No one knows how many there are out there. But be careful, there are a lot of
fakes and putted together ones. In Sweden you can get it serviced without replace
the dial. If you send it to Geneva, it comes back with a white Luminova dial.

Good luck.

Jocke

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

Hi Fredrik,
As Jocke already said you canot say how many have been produced.
Be careful with the dial because there are many "fakes" out
In total you have 4 dial variants, some expamples attached
If possible post some pictures of the watch you are on the hunt for..
Good luck
Axel

Its very easy to have a dial repainted to the red lettering so be careful. Always make sure the serial numbers match the production runs of the red lettered watches.
