Wrist size for those who prefer "classic" offerings
This is one of a pair of complementary polls. The return of the Rolex Explorer back to 36 mm has generated a bit of conversation -- some rejoice, others lament. The purpose of these polls is to get an idea of the wrists sizes of those who have a strong preference for certain dial sizes.
For this poll, if you strongly prefer more classic watch sizes -- let's say 36 mm for plain bezeled watches like the Explorer or the OP and/or a 39-40 mm for sport bezeled watches like the Black Bay 58, what is your wrist circumference? This poll is for those who prefer these sizes over others. That is to say, if a particular model was offered in multiple sizes, you would almost always choose the smaller version -- this poll is for you. This poll is not for those who "could pull off" the smaller sizes but actually prefer larger dimensions. This poll is also not for those who wear the entire span of dial sizes (although you are welcome to comment!). Just curious about the wrists of those who strongly prefer the smaller dials. The other poll is for the other end of the spectrum. Regardless of your preference, wear what you like in good health! |

7.125” wrist. I’m not sure I prefer “classic” size as you define it. I prefer 38-42 regardless of style. I also prefer something less than 150 grams on a strap.

I have a flat, 7 3/8" wrist.
I generally use bezel diameter as it more accurately reflects size than listed case sizes. Smaller watches like the El Primero (38mm) or Ceramic Daytona (38.6mm) still look good, but anything with a bezel larger than 41mm looks to big to me.

I have a 6.75-inch wrist. I prefer all the classic sizes.
I've owned ceramic Subs and GMT's and they're just not for me ... I always come back to the smaller 5-digit case sizes (or 6 digit Daytona since they're small). I just prefer the look of smaller watches on my wrist. Currently, I own a 16710, 16600, 116523. Those are my sport model sweet spots. |

6.5” wrist here and while I love my 40mm’s, I can’t argue that my dj36 looks most proportional on me. It really depends on the watch though, for example I would never get a 37mm ym over the 40. But I also wouldn’t get a dj41 over a dj36.

The poll proves what I thought: Many if not most people on this forum have what I would consider small wrists. (Mine is 7.5"). That explains why I see so many wrist shots with overhanging lugs.

6.75” wrist here and I most definitely prefer my 36 DJ, 36 Explorer and my 5 digit GMT to my 6 digit GMTs and Sub.

For dress watches it's 36-39mm for me; for sport, I, too, love my 40's. But the lug-to-lug dimension & geometry (curved vs. angled vs. straight, e.g.) really determines if I can comfortably wear a particular watch, particularly above 39mm.

True, me too. It’s hard to find a modern piece that doesn’t make me look like a kid. Aside from my wrist, I don’t have a large frame in general. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
