Rolex vs sneakers

Well, if Kanye West's Nike Air Yeezy 1 sneakers fetch 1 million at auction, and "normal" pairs without any provenance are being sold anywhere between 10-50 K, then I guess Rolex watches are still super cheap, even in the grey market!

Ok. Old stamps are worth millions - just depends on who wants what I believe. So watches are cheap vs. other stuff people want. Still doesn't solve the shortage problem for folks that want to buy via AD. Oh, wait, there's some art someone paid $2 million for - Rolex is cheap. I don't understand these arguments, except if they are delivered "tongue in cheek" which is fine.

i'm just waiting for the market to fall out of the sneakers-world. They will have a rude awakening what little value there is.

You guys are going to inadvertently give Peter a giant welt on his head. He’s had too many face palm moments today.

There are obviously multiple other currencies - excuse my bigotry on payment options....

Agreed! Although it's cyclical with shoes, about every 10 years it seems. Unfortunately the "tie in" to Rolex is John Mayer. He's a "shoehead" (eg. Visvim Collection) and has recruited his army into the Rolex flip biz. Those people camping out for Nike's are now the competition for actual watch lovers/collectors at the AD.
