Once again, newbie here. How do these listings get removed? Are you reporting them to ebay? If so, that's awsome.

New member here. Just a question.

You are saying the watch is fake because they cut and paste a stock picture from a different website? Not everyone has a digital camera. Not trying to argue but just want to know your opinion.

I want to buy a rolex and as a first time buyer I need all the info possible.

Would you be willing to buy a multi-thousand dollar item from a seller who can't provide a picture of it? I'm assuming that anyone who can afford a Rolex can also afford a cheap camera of some type. Doesn't mean they're always fakes but I'd question any listing without actual pictures of the item.

I hear ya...I wouldn't even buy from someone that doesn't post pictures of their own watch.

However it could be a lazy kid from rich parents that just wants to get rid of the watch for some fast cash. Who knows the reason..just wanted input as to why the watch could be fake.

X2 on that one Noonan, the usual recipe is low or no feedback with zero history or activity and photos poached from high end reputable sellers.

The rule of thumb we work with is would you buy the seller before buying the watch, the description on this listing is bland:

Red and Black Face dial . One owner, have box about 4 years old.

Mens Rolex GMT Master II watch, stainless steel case and bracelet, oyster fliplock bracelet, quickset date, black and red rotatable 24hr bezel, independent 12hr hand allowing simultaneous use of a second time-zone, special oyster case with shoulders to protect the triplock winding crown, synthetic sapphire crystal, and pressure and waterproof to 100 meters.

There is no real information in there other than info that can be plagiarized from googling, no mention of model or even the beginning of a serial with the stock stolen photo its one to avoid, most of the time the watch they would have is sure to be a counterfeit and would be easily picked from photos.

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi Fusebuddy,

We do initiate the reporting of fraudulent/counterfeit listings but it all boils down to the discretion of the folks at eBay. anyone can pop a report on a listing via report this listing at the bottom of the page.

Cheers,

Dave.

Question about ebay postings.

I'm interested in a Sub (not sure which one yet) and I'm starting to get nervous about add on bezels on the subs. I noticed you can get different colors and just put them on a black Sub. Is this cause for concern?

I'm interested in the 50th anniversary green sub and worried someone could just add on the green bezel and just sell it for more.

Any help would be appreciated as it seems you know your stuff around ebay. Thanks in advance.

When buying from someone (ebay, TRF, websites).. other than an AD how important is it that they have all the papers? Is this a must or is it just not that important. Please advise.

Having papers doesn't mean much in terms of whether or not the watch is 100% original but they usually add a bit to the resale price. It's a personal opinion. I'd have no issues buying one without papers knowing that it's authentic (and I have). Like Dave said, it's all about researching the seller and trusting them first. Once you're comfortable with the seller, then start looking at the watch they're selling.

thanks very much noonan. just a bit paranoid because i'll probably buy from a non-AD and absolutly do not want to get hosed.

with that being said who would you recommend to buy from on TRF? Tempo, robrobin, lawrenceb? Please advise.

Ponycar is a top notch seller.

I have personally bought from him.

Never heard of a problem.

IC. So what is the purpose of the lug holes and do they appear based on the type of rolex model/yr?

Lug holes are just the older design and were gradually phased out from 2002 - 2003.

Cheers,

Dave.
