Thanks for the replies, to quote my friend's message -

'About Nov last year, the clasp came undone, and my sub hit the concrete pavement. . ...the Bezel came off, but I popped it back on, although it began turning anticlockwise. Last year. the sub gave up the ghost, not working at all.'
