I have two Wolf watch winders as a gift from Rolex boutique, I hardly use it.
No need to wind when you don't wear. Just wind by hand whenever you want to wear, it is so simple to set the date and time.

Don’t bother. Save your money.
Have a SD (most complicated Rolex) and it’s so easy to set/adjust that I don’t even bother with a winder. A PP annual or perpetual calendar is a different story ...

I will just add that Rolexes auto-wind best when your arm is at your side, swinging back and forth while you are walking. So if you get a winder, get one that rotates holding the watch perpendicular to the ground, as if on your wrist with your arm swinging. I was told this by a Rolex tech, who told me the reason my watch seems to have lost its reserve was because I wasn’t walking enough due to Covid work-from-home! So he suggested putting it on a winder every few days if I’m just sitting at my desk. Nothing was wrong with the watch, and didn’t need service like I had thought.

I did when my collection was smaller. I have the Orbita Monaco 6. I don't use it anymore and it's just sits empty.

I have a couple of Versas that I use. I’ve stopped putting my OP on it though because it seems like it’s stretching the bracelet

A purely personal choice.
I have used winders in the past. I kid you not the only reason I stopped is my cat would love swiping at the watch turning in the case. Part of me didn't see the need without a really complicated watch. However, lately I have thought about getting one again. I don't get any real enjoyment with winding my watches. I do get great enjoyment in changing the strap I am wearing on the watches. I even love cleaning the leather and softening the NATOs. I have so many straps it is kind of funny. I guess we all have our thing. |
