Polished center link on all steel sub
Has anybody tried this? It seems like a reversible mod to try out on our watches."seems"... the white gold version looks great with the polished centerlinks and just wondering out loud...

Normally I preferred polished center link but I wouldn’t try to change it, I like to keep it original.

It will make the Sub look more interesting. All satin is rather dull and I like the PCL on my 116619LB.
Going from PCL to a brush finished is a very easy DIY, the reverse not so much. I would probably ask Rolliworks or LAWW to do it. These guys can make it look perfect.

Yes. I’ve seen a steel black dial sub converted into the original smurf.

You won’t be able to achieve the crisp finish of Rolex IMO. And if you do, then you’ve made your sub special. If that is what you want, post the results here

I’m not a fan of PCLs and I think it’ll ruin the watch.

Take it or leave it; many don't like PCLs due to the scratch impact!

The Submariner is already becoming less and less of a tool watch with the glossy dial and bezel, so polishing up those center links would certainly help further the anti-tool trend.

I've seen it, I think on this forum but I can't find the thread. Someone with a BLNR and a SubC temporarily switched bracelets. The GMT looked really great on the brushed bracelet, the Sub with PCLs...not so much.

I’m amazed how many non watch people who are oblivious to watch brands (they couldn’t tell a Rolex from Invictia and also probably never heard most other luxury brands) noticed the PCL on a GMT and commented/asked. I got an LN GMT for a few months last year and I was shocked how many people said “did you get a new watch? This one is shiny”. The pcl are a detail I like the look of on a watch but it’s not a feature I like all that much on wrist. The pcl’s are one of the main reasons I never gave the gmt a fair shake. I wouldn’t do that. The brushed bracelet is part of what makes the Sub more of a tool watch. PCLs have a flashier, dressier appearance, that I think is well suited for the GMT (and other dressier watches) instead.

Why not? The Sub ref 116619LB has PCL’s.
