Buyer remorse???

Hello everyone , I always wanted an OP41 in yellow or red but ended up buying a DJ41 126334 blue few weeks ago, because it’s a better watch overall and just gorgeous!
I’m not sure, but it’s been few weeks and I keep having this feeling , worn the watch once so far..
I have been a lurker here for so long and I feel the need to to post and get your opinions
What you all think, has anyone been in this situation before..
Thank you
And here is the a wrist shot

This is more a dress watch vs the OP41 in yellow or red, which are more casual/playful, because of the colour and the smooth bezel.

The bezel on the DJ is very blingy and more serious, as is the jubilee bracelet vs the oyster bracelet.

You should buy an OP41 as well so you have a choice, depending on the occasion.

Don’t go with the hype, you made the right decision, Datejust is an excellence watch and the blue dial is the most gorgeous timepiece.

I felt that way about my DJ many years ago too. Thought about it, wanted it, kept thinking about it, thought it was a better buy vs XYZ watch (this was before all the watch madness now), but then once I got it I never really wore it.

You made the right choice 100%.

The new OPs are all hideous and those colors will not last the test of time. Your DJ41 on the other hand is a classic and the sunburst blue is a beauty!! I would have made the same choice each and every time.

Nah, you’re overthinking it! I feel that those colorful DJ41’s look a bit generic and trendy. The sunburst blue, fluted bezel and jubilee that you have suits your wrist and style (judging from your attire/accessories) very well and best all, this combo is sporty, yet luxurious and a classic!

It’s beautiful, and it’s alright to take your time to get to know a watch. It isn’t as if you will require amputation if over time you don’t like it. Enjoy the process!

you made the right choice in the long run.... Hang in there.

BTW, congrats on the new watch, looks amazing and should you want to offload it, you certainly won't struggle

Beautiful watch. Congrats. To answer your question, no I never had this feeling before because I spend a lot of time thinking about what I want to buy, and when I'm certain I think about it a bit more.

You got the better watch, believe me. I had a blue and a yellow OP41 on my wrist at the AD, passed on both. Tiny crown, felt delicate. Other than the colour, the style of the watch felt sterile. On the yellow colour, I actually find it difficult to wear IRL in spite of looking nice in brochures. YMMV.

I agree no watch looks good together with that bracelet. Perhaps wear it on the other wrist if its special to you.

i have had buyers remorse on a few different pieces. I cant explain it, because they are great watches. Ive come to the conclusion that the remorse, in my case, is just too many watches overall. If you dont have a lot of rolexes, the piece you showed is beautiful and timeless, and can be worn every day forever!

Personally, I think the yellow and coral red OP are some of the LEAST versatile watches you can buy. Those dials might work in the summer time when you're wearing bright pastels and swim trunks, but I think they'd clash with just about every thing else. Too niche. Also, forgive me, but they look a little tacky. And cheap. They do. I don't get the hype or appeal. Secondary market prices are bonkers. I'd hesitate to buy even at retail. The more conservative OP dial options are another story... I think the silver, black, metallic blue, and hell even turquoise, would be winners.

Meanwhile, your DJ is an all-around outstanding piece that fits in everywhere, all the time. Tux, business suit, shirt & jeans, swim trunks. Winter summer or fall. Never out of place. It's got an awesome bracelet. Instantly recognizable with signature Rolex design and heritage. Timeless. It will never go out of style. And it looks (and feels) like it's worth its price. It's a piece that gets attention, something special. People will take note, whether positive or negative, but one can clearly say that it's note-worthy. Can't say the same about those OP. But I guess an advantage of the OP is that it "flies under the radar", if that's something you want.

Anyway your DJ looks great on you, congrats, that's an excellent piece

Buyer remorse???

OP41 and your DJ41 are almost at the opposite ends of the classic watch spectrum. One is sporty, casual, smooth bezel and oyster bracelet with no polished center links. The other is serious, down to business, dressy, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. A good comprise could be any of the following: DJ41 with fluted/oyster, DJ41 with smooth/jubilee or DJ36 with any bezel/bracelet combination. I feel the fluted bezel on the 36mm is slightly more subtle than the one on the 41mm, so would be ok to pair with jubilee for someone who does not crave all the attention his watch might get.

You could also put your DJ41 on a strap and see if that cures the buyer’s remorse.

Why don't you just wear it? Do you have other watches in your collection that you prefer? If you don't like it, it's one of the more desirable configurations and you should be able to sell it for at least MSRP being LNIB. Also aren't the red or yellow OP configurations pretty new? They probably have a good couple years before they re-amp the line. Wait for one of those or buy them second hand.

Think of it this way: One is a wide-lapel, double breasted chalk stripe suit with with a plain white shirt and conservative tie. The other is a classic navy suit worn with a bright striped shirt and no tie. Both noticeable but in very different ways. Question is: Which is your style?

Give it a bit of time,,,,
It looks great
When I had the same spec but a 36mm and a 41mm in front of me,,,
I went with the 36 but no denying the 41 was a gorgeous piece but the 36 fitted and felt better on my flat wrist,,,,
As nice as the new OPs or older OPs are ,, I don’t think any are in the same league as your DJ,,,,
But if it’s not singing,,

Stick with the DJ. It's the superior watch and it looks amazing. You just haven't worn it enough to appreciate it yet. Slap that thing on for a couple of weeks and you'll come around. The OP is relatively boring looking compared to the DJ IMO.

There’s no way I would want an OP over that stunning Datejust. Wear it around for a few weeks if you still don’t love it then sell it and get what you want.

I have the 36mm version. It’s 18 years old and I still love it to this day.

Always buy what you want, the good news is if you decide to get out of the DJ you will be able to with little or no loss at all.

I did the same exact thing I wanted a black sky dweller and settled on a grey dj, I never wore the dj it just wasn’t for me. I sold the dj for slightly more than I paid for it and never thought twice about it again.

You made the right choice without a doubt. That one of the best offerings\color from Rolex IMHO.

Always a reason to add a second timepiece! Perhaps, tossing the bracelet would be an upgrade.

Fantastic long term choice; I have same feelings on my submariner.

But I know it works in most all occasions!
