How can you tell if a rolex crystal is authentic?
An older sapphire crystal (16233) How can you tell if it's authentic?

Thats a tough call. I say bring it in to an Rolex AD with a certified watchmaker on site and ask for a service estimate.
If the watchmaker gives you an estimate, then all is good. They will tell you if its not authentic and that they will be unable to work on the watch.

I don't think that you can tell......... That's one of the reasons for the micro-etched crown on them since ~2001
