Vintage Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 6146-8000 (1969)

One of the more sought-after vintage Grand Seiko automatics, the 6146-8000 is also one of the more faithful examples of designer Taro Tanaka’s famous Grammar of Design.

Condition

The Hi-Beat movement is running very well at 36,000bph, and keeping great time. See timegrapher pic below, taken a few hours after a full wind.

The case and crystal are in excellent condition, as are the hands and dial – with sharp printing and bright SEIKO and GS applied logos.

The original GS-signed crown operates perfectly for winding, time setting, and for adjusting the quick-set date.
