My first Rolex - Black Diamond Dial Daytona

Got this yesterday. April 2021 - never worn 116503 diamond dial. Pictures do not do this watch justice!

Inspired by a friend of mine who showed me a champagne dial Daytona back in 2012. I had initially wanted a bluesy sub, but debated between the sub and a Deepsea, but came across this and it absolutely won me over! I never thought my first Rolex would be a Daytona - that's for sure!!!

I had wanted a Rolex since I was in high school, some 30+ years ago, but life took over and sent me in other directions with other plans, but I finally got it.

My first Rolex.

Thank you!!

I am fairly stoked about it. Never thought this day would come honestly.

I have been a lurker on this forum for several years now, gleaning information from here and there. So, I at least HOPE I went about it the right way with some base knowledge.

Congrats! I got the immediate predecessor (116503-0009) and agree, pictures really don’t do it justice!

Cheers!

Congratulations!!! It's a beautiful watch!!! You might want to talk to your AD about the difficulty in removing it however. Pretty certain their prescription will be another Rolex!!!

Haven't been on here in a few weeks, but wanted to add a little to this story.

I have subsequently added a Rolex Submariner (16610) to my small collection. It may be the last watch I ever buy - but admittedly I am tempted to get a Bulova Lunar Pilot to add.

So far, I switch between the two Rolexes, just as I feel like it. No real reason or anything to make the switch. The Sub stopped once - because I didn't wear it for a couple of days. The Daytona has continuously run since I first got it - never stopping or losing time. This confirms to me that the power reserve on the Daytona is MUCH better

Wearing them, the Daytona feels very soft on my skin. Its an easy wear and the clasp adjustment makes a world of difference throughout the day. You can easily tell the difference from any other watch I have ever worn. The Sub feels a bit rougher. I really like the date function on the Sub. I kind of wish that it had the feel of the Daytona. Every time I look down at my wrist I get a bit of a wow factor whichever one I am wearing.
