There is a difference in enjoying a watch and the whole Rolex thing and being obsessed with them. After all they are just watches and there are much more important things in life. However if you have the $$ to purchase one or ten without causing any financial strain then by all means enjoy.

When we build these watches up as much as we do, devoting the time / energy / money to acquire them, when the chase is all said and done and the watch is on your wrist -

I'm wondering if anyone ever feels disappointed becuase the watch was placed on such a pedestal that it could have never possibly lived up to what we envisioned it as!

Any takers?

I myself can't see this hapening when i finally pull the trigger, but the chase is still on for me and the pedestal is higher then ever as I get closer to owning my first piece!!

We shall see!!!
Sounds stupid, but every time I put mine on it feels like i'm out with a good friend!

I've had loads of other watches, but none gave me the same feeling!

Maybe I differ from a lot of people but I'm not a fanboy of any brand. However, I AM a fanboy of a few watches. I love my SeamasterGMT and I love my Deepsea. ( I love some other Rolex and Omega models too but can certainly see the good points AND bad points of any Brand) My next watch will not be a Rolex or an Omega but probably a Pan or JLC or IWC but it will be the model that I buy and not the brand.

I've been wearing a submariner for 34 years and it is not treated as a piece of jewelry. After what it has been through with me without missing a beat, it has long earned the right of a place on a very high pedestal. It exceeded expectations very long ago.

Go for it Brandon, you know you want to!

I guess I sort of know where you're coming from. I had my DJ for 16 years and wore it every day until I got my GMT-IIC.

Now I wear my GMT every day and my DJ is back in it's box.

I am so attached to them both that I feel bad about not wearing my DJ , but don't want to take off my GMT!

Why can't someone start a new trend of wearing two at the same time!

You may be asking the wrong crowd. From my short time here, I have figured out that the people here love their watches, myself included.

I received mine as a wedding gift, and still love it!

Hear, hear!!! We see eye-to-eye. Omega was my first love, and still is. But my DS never comes off these days. I've had my eye on an IWC Pilots Chrono for years and know it's only a matter of time before I pull the trigger. And I can't seem to make up my mind on a few different PAN's...decisions, decisions. There are just too many great models by different brands to NOT check them all out and give them a shot IMO!

I'm 100% going for it this weekend. I spoke with an AD and a GMT IIc is being held for me.

Although the DJ was my first love, I feel like the GMT is better suited for my current lifestyle and I'll work my way towards a DJ model next!

Thanks guys, great thread!!

Oh and it was never a question about loving the watches. I was just worried that after getting tingly inside over the thought of finally owning my first rolex for so many years, that the feeling wouldn't measure up once I owned it.

I know now it wont be an issue, this GMT is going to experience a lot of life with me! Looking forward to it.

Will post the pictures once I pick it up!

Its a wristwatch, and is as susceptible to any of the foliables of any mechanical device. My TT Sub has been back to the Toronto RSC twice since its last $1,040 overhaul a couple of years ago because the crown frequently won't engage anything when unscrewed and pulled out.

Such is life, its a mass produced machine.
