16013 Jubilee Bracelet - How to resize?
Rolex Jubilee Bracelet Ref. 62523H.18 on the Rolex Datejust 16013. All the bracelet watches I have used were resized by my local watchmaker (in a very small town) by using a hammer and a pin to hit the link pin on one side and pull it out from the other.
Is this watch bracelet any different? Should I take it to the RSC 200 miles away or should I take it to him? (I am quite sure he would not be able to resize it if is not exactly the same way.) I'd read this about the jubilee bracelet somewhere. It said something like the links with the 'holes' in them do not actually have solid pins but they are tiny spring bars. I am concerned only because of this. If it is different, what exactly should I tell him? Is there a pictorial guide anywhere? Thanks! |

look closely, it has a flat head screw. You need a 1mm (?) flat head screwdriver to unscrew those pins. They are not pins where you hit out with a hammer. they are screws. Avoid at all costs taking it to this guy in your little town. He'll destroy your bracelet.

Thanks. The watch is actually still in the mail. Would be arriving only on Monday but wanted to clarify beforehand. Is the jubilee bracelet on the 16013 going to be similar to the jubilee on the GMT IIc that is explained in this thread: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?p=1097767?
If so, if I order a screwdriver off ebay, would I be able to do it myself? I really would like to avoid the long drive as that would mean I will have to take a day off as well. And, I want to wear it as soon as possible as well. :) |

Should be pretty straight forward. I believe the screws on the Jubilee are 1.4 mm.
Buy a small sizes set of quality jewelers screwdrivers. Avoid the very cheap ones as in any tool really. The tips are not always properly ground. Any money saved on the drivers will be quickly gone if even one screw head is damaged. A set that runs from about 1mm up to 2mm or so will serve almost all of your home watch maintenance needs. This is one of the few tasks that most watch owners can safely and easily do for themselves. Enjoy! Mark |
