I gotta admit, I do find myself looking at AP more recently than any other brands

Totally agree with this.

Couldn't agree more with the original poster. The brand is a lot of fun and the owners and enthusiasts are not boring to say the least.

I whole heartily agree. I am blessed to have four different AP's and still looking to add. All my watches are special and unique but when the AP goes on the wrist it transforms me like I just got off the plane to go on a vacation; elated.

APs are beautifully made timepieces, as are Pateks and VCs, and all three definitely "feel" superior and more special to Rolex. No question.

However, design-wise (arguably the most important aspect of a watch), I just can't find an AP I like, from the shape of the bezel to the little screws to the drab dials. I've tried several times and just don't get it. I feel like I'm missing something.

There’s just something about AP!

Rolex=Ferrari
AP=Lamborghini

Styling, design, angles, production size, owner base and demographics, and driving styles probably a good match on all sides if you consider most typical owners.

The Genta octagons are not for everyone, even with their crazy recent resales, so I'd check out the Code, Remaster and Jules Audemars, chrono especially - great vid below, for their more conventional shapes but still with high quality AP fit and finish.

Not sure I agree with that one...AP doesn't have reliability issues, and if so I have to sell my AP I just bought.

Consider the stark design of the Royal Oak...Much more Lamborghini in the concept and angular details.

I'd more go with this one to be honest. But even between Ferrari and Lamborghini there are very different details.

Don’t know if that’s a joke but I don’t know any Ferrari owners who’d say that the Lusso isn’t an amazing car.

Sorry Ash, I cannot quite agree with that......

For me;

Rolex = BMW/Mercedes Benz (I'd maybe scale up the PM Daytona's and Skydwellers to "Porsche" brand here)

AP = Ferrari 250 GT SWB

PP = Maybach

VC = Bentley

I like AP watches but i really love their boutique experience. To me thats what makes the brand almost as much as the product itself. They truly make you feel special.
