My wife's dayjust stopped ticking
My wife's TT DJ all the suddenly stopped without any reason. This has happened once in the past, but recovered after hand-winding it. It keeps excellent time; +2 seconds/day. It was bought in 1983 and had been overhauled two years ago. She has been wearing it daily; and she is an active lady. This time, after shaking it or winding it, the watch again keeps perfect time.
Any possible solutions? I would hate to send it in for another overhaul; which cost around $400. Thanks, San |

Yes get it checked at a Service Agent.
If it stopped dead and wont more no matter how much you swing the watch around, then there is a possibility the main spring is a gonner. Its given yeomen service since 1983. |

I am confused. Are you saying that after shaking and winding, it is running and keeping good time again?
It is not uncommon for an auto watch to not get enough movement during the day to keep it wound enough. Over a period of days, the power reserve is run out and the watch can stop. If that is happening just fully manually wind the watch every few days. Try that before resorting to service. Mark |

Wind the crown about 40 times, which should fully wind the watch. If the watch stops in the next 40 hours you may have a problem with the main spring. Since you mentioned that your wife is fairly active, there may also be a problem with the auto wind mechanism. Or there may not be any problem at all. The next 40 hours will be a true test if there is anything wrong with the watch.
