Need some help from the vintage guys!!!
I have a buddy who came across this vintage Datejust and he is wondering if it is all original and what a fair price is for it. I told him I have no clue, but I know a place that could help me out with it. Here is the deal the receipt says it was purchased in 1969 and in the little book has a number 1966. He has the box and some paperwork for it. I am not sure what should have all come with it at that time. So if anyone has any info on this let me know. I would really like to know what a fair price is for this vintage piece. Who knows mabey we can get him to sell it!!!!! The bracelet has 555 endlinks on it and im SURE it needs to be serviced. THANKS GUYS FOR THE HELP!!!!!!!

Looks like a 1601 now if it was in mint condition and genuine around £1200-£1500.Your example bracelet completely shot quite a bit less perhaps £700-£800 on a good day.

Ya the bracelet is in pretty rough shape as you can see in the picture. I thought a vintage Datejust was pretty cool. I have never seen one in person that is that old.

In that condition around here I would give about $700 for it fix it up some and it would probably bring $1100-1200 after some work

It's a 1603 - you can tell by the stainless steel milled bezel as opposed to the fluted white gold bezel on the 1601. The jubilee and 555 end pieces are correct and there are some bonuses: it has at least a partial set of box and papers, which fetches a premium, and it has a black dial - the black dials are a little rarer and people seem to like them better, probably because they look a little more like sports models.
The vintage DJ market is soft (I'm planning on buying another for that reason), but I'll bet you could get between $1100 and $1300 as is. I wouldn't service it if I was selling, because you could easily spend $500 on the service appointment and it probably wouldn't add that much in value. |

With a bit of work that would be a nice vintage piece for not a huge outlay. Had this similar one about 10 years, think it dates to around 1968.

Restoring it would bring it back to spec even with that band.
