Varnish for stabilising hands ?

Evening all,
Anyone has any experience with stabilising hands using the varnish that comes in the Bergeon Luminous kit? Effective? I have a few cracks in my hands. Will it change the color of the hands?
I've read about Shellac and epoxy.
Thanks.

I would not be attempting this myself. Firstly this can’t be done from above. You’d need to take the hands off and do it from the underside and that in itself come with the risk of the existing lume falling out.

This. Definitely not a DIY job.

Shellac, varnish, clear lacquer and epoxy are a big no for me. Doing a repair from the top side of the hand is a big no also.

Cracked hands should be repaired from the back side.

Vintage tritium lume is very, very fragile in most cases.

I think most repair specialists would recommend cracks be repaired from the backside of the hand with a substance or mixture used by some of the individuals that are capable specialists in the fine art of hand repair.

Yes ofcourse, done from the back side by a watchmaker. I was just wondering if anyone had a good/bad experience using varnish vs others ....

This is a question for our in-house watch tech expert Bas, (Searchart) I would PM him for a knowledgable answer.

Varnish for stabilising hands ?

My 1680 hour-hand tritium lume was hanging through a bit and not far away from touching the matte dial. The lume was not cracked.

Rolex SA stabilized it from the backside, not visible.

I don't know which product they used. But I would never try that myself. It's certainly a job for a specialist.
