USN SEAL-issued Tudor Submariner

I have read a few threads about SEAL issued Tudor Submariners so I figured I would contribute this for my first new thread. I post the following with permission from the owner, a SEAL operator for over 20+ years who was issued this Tudor in the early 90s at the start of his career. First three are pics of his issued Submariner that has seen its share of hard duty. Tool watch debate? Over IMHO.

Last two pics are of an USN-issued Tudor to a SEAL who served during Vietnam in SEAL Team ONE X-ray Platoon and the associated leather cover.

Both are Patriots and mean mothers and I thank them for allowing me to share these pics.

Interesting and thanks for posting. Does it have any extra markings on outside Caseback?

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

My brother-in-law's Father-in-law (hard to follow, I know ) is a retired Navy Seal. He's the nicest guy you'd meet but a bad MF as you say. I've tried to get some stories out of him but he doesn't often share; not sure many do.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the pics, happy to share. They do not share freely and are very private by creed. When they do, I listen intently.

Thanks so much for sharing. A watch like this makes me wish I were a "one-watch" guy. Combat scars and stories to tell...all encrypted on the bezel.

Very informative. I suppose we can deduce, at long last, it is, indeed, safe to wear a Tudor or Rolex in the bathtub...

I think the folks that go running for the gshocks better recognize that Rolex was the original gshock.

When I was a Recon Marine, I closely looked at the Tudors and private purchase Rolex worn by the SEALs in the platoon we shared a berthing area with. I was trying to decide whether they were worth shelling out the few hundred bucks that they cost then. I don’t recall seeing any engraving on the casebacks, such as an NSN.I do recall the casebacks on the Tudors looked just like the ones on the Rolex. I asked what was the deal? I was told by a 1st class PO: “Tudor is Rolex’s lower line, Rolex movements are more accurate .” He wore a private purchase Rolex on a bracelet. I ended up getting a DRSD. I was later issued a Chronosport UDT in Army SF. No NSN like was on the Hamiltons were on there either. I don’t think wasn’t a “sterile” thing. Just specialty items procured from the civilian market.

Fozzyf18, thanks for posting!! I’ve never seen the band with the snaps and leather cover. That is so cool!! I recall how bright my tritium was on my DRSD. I sure miss the radioactive days! If you have any insight on caseback engraving, please share. I’d like to see if my recollections are correct. Or do I need Prevagen….
